It is possible, in FHA preforeclosure short sales, for the seller to get back $1,000 if no other liens must be paid, and the lender’s net recovery is within limits. Unlikely, but possible.

I was speaking with an agent who swears that he has worked shortsales where he can get the seller money back at closing. I have done many shortsales and can not even imagine that this guy is not BS’ing me. Just does not sound right. Anyone ever gotten the seller money back here? And I am talking about directly from the bank, not from the buyer purchasing some personal items from the seller outside of closing.
