How is everyone making payments to subs, are you taking taxes out and paying the workers comp or paying them straight out and giving them 1099 at yr end. Whenever I suggest taking taxes out on small time bus. guys they give you the story about they pay thier own taxes, ha ha.
i am pretty sure that the govt. boys sugggest that you take taxes out on them or suffer the consequences. is there any truth to it? Is there a way out of taking taxes out some form to sign or what?

Bill, no doubt in your “stuff” you have a sub-contractor / vendor form for them to fill out so you can give them a 1099. If not email me.

Your’re better off with true sub-contractor status. As long as they are truly independant, have their own business, have their own liability insurance and can produce a certificate of insurance for you when they work for you, why would you want to put them on your payroll? If you pay them more than $600.00 in one year, you send them a 1099 and be done with it.
