Thought for the day… - Posted by Ed Garcia

Thought for the day,

I haven’t give a thought for the day in a while and so I thought I give you one today. With Christmas coming up tomorrow, I realize that it’s
the time of year for celebration, sharing, giving, and spending time with the family. I’m sure that those of you, who have read my post in the
past, know that I’m big on family.

Although Christmas is a day of celebration and family get togethers, the thought occurred to me, the real meaning of Christmas. It’s a religious
day, it’s day of the celebration of the birth of our father. Now I’m not going to go into a religious sermon, that’s not my style. But rather you
believe in god or not, you have to appreciate the moral foundation into which most religions are built around.

You know, if you attend any of my workshops, one of my main messages is that, “We are product of our environment”. I sometimes ask
myself where are we going today? What examples are we setting for our youth? What are we doing about ROLL MODELS?

Here is an e-mail I received from my niece who is going to Washington University to become a doctor.

THE NEW SCHOOL PRAYER

This was written by a teen in Bagdad, Arizona.
This is incredible!!!

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
and pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such “judgments” do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; my soul please take!

Amen

Kind of makes you think doesn’t it?

Merry Christmas,

Ed Garcia

A favorite bumper sticker…

As long as there are tests,
there will be prayer in schools.
