I’m rehabbing a house I bought.

I want new tile in the bathroom but don’t want
to waste time ripping off the old tile.

Can I tile over tile ?

I just want to no if it can be done not if its the right way or not.

Thanks

Depends on the tile. We’ve tiled over mosaic type floor tiles with 12x12 tiles with good results. The mosaics were originally laid in a mudded floor and it didn’t make sense to do all that tearing up as the floor was really stable.

Sure you can! You can tile over a toaster if you want, it just may not last to long. At least screw on some screen or mesh first to hold the mortor that will hold the tile on the wall. You could even put the thinest backer board over the old tile if you have room for that, or you could get the old tile reglazed?(not sure if that is correct term) to change to whatever color you want, or tear off the old tile and do it over.
