Ran into a title problem where the Owners (Sellers) of a home I have under contract to buy, filed Bankruptcy 4 years ago. There is a $10,000 lien on the property that the underlying debt to Discover was included in the BK. This debt was discharged in the BK. My title attorney said that although there is no personal liability to the owner it is still a valid lien on the house and will have to be paid off upon the sale. Does this sound right to you? I am buying it for the payoff of the mortgage and there is no room to pay off this lien. Where do I start ?

That would depend on the value of the property, the balance on the liens in front the Discover Judgment, and the homestead exemption amount in your State.
