Hello everyone;
This message is adressed to everyone in this newsgroup.
I received a lot of nasty e-mails from several “regulars”
in this newsgroup who accussed me of doing some sort of
damage to this website because I happen to work for some
other real estate expert.
Let me adress that. I am not associated with anyone. I
am just an individual.
Now, the second issue. Many people also e-mailed me
accussing me of causing disruptions on this newsgroup.
The reasons why I ask questions such as “does obtaining a
high return in real estate mean I have to take higher risk”,
“is anyone in here outperforming the stock market”, “how is
it possible to buy real estate with no money down”, etc…
Let’s face it folks, some of you guys in here are very
successful in this business.
I really appreciate the time that you take out to answer
the questions that newbies have. So thank you for that.
However, do not forget, one day, you started at the same
place and same station in life that I am in currently. You
probably had the same fears, the same questions, and same
concerns that I have right now as I ponder what on earth to
do with my life.

I don’t think anyone is hostile to questions. But if you are the same Nick who made such a bold statement on how great college is determining your future, you will probably not get a good reaction here.
This board recognizes people’s financial independence, and accomplishments through creativity and savviness, not by their credentials.
What makes me sensitive to the credentials issue is that although I have them (which gives me some bragging rights) so do many others are so unmotivated. I really dislike the negativity and the dead-end mentality they have.
I hope this helps shed some light on some of the “hostile” responses you may have gotten.

After being BURNED many times with “flaming” on this board, many of us are leary of those that seem to be doing that. Frankly, your name rang bells for me, because I thought you were the same “nick” that did it before.
Apparently not.
Keep up the open mind and attitude, and read everything here. You’ll soon learn. Just be sure to share your experiences,both good and bad with this board. That is why it exists and is the BEST place for REI education and advice. I value the presence of all the “mentors” on this board, and am somewhat over protective of them, because I need the support and advice. There isn’t enough money in the world to pay these GREAT people for the things they have done for others.
I too am new to REI, but have done some deals.
I did not mean to slam you, just to give you “Words of caution”. I apologize for the earlier post, and hope you can join our community and become as big a part of it as we have.
Most here are SERIOUS investors, and I am grateful for there FREE services and advice. This board is the SOLE reason I have had any success at all. They all kicked my behind in gear and got me to learn to never say “Never” or “I can’t”. I once said, “I can’t goto the convention, because it cost too much”. Well, it was “Jackie from Dallas” who said, “Go make a deal, and pay for the convention and more”. (I did that, and went to Dallas, and still have money to use elsewhere!!
I now know that not going to the convention would have cost me more than I could ever afford.
So, keep the PMA and enjoy the ride.

I’m glad you took the time to post, Nick. I think the
problem some people have is that you are somewhat
confrontational in your other posts. I do want to make
a couple of comments in response to your earlier posts.
First, I wouldn’t waste my time for a 10% ROI. I’m dead
serious about that. I can buy good paper for yields of
50% and UP. Honest.
Next, I have an extensive “formal” education. However,
let me tell you this: Some of the smartest, most successful
and wealthiest people I know do not have a college
education.
Academia, formal education, advanced degrees have
absolutely NOTHING in common with knowing how to make
money.
I sincerely hope you read Robert Kiyosaki’s two books,
“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and “Cash Flow Quadrant.”
Approach them with an open mind and a willingness to
learn, and I think you’ll understand what we’re saying
here.
P.S I would also pay attention to JPiper’s post below.
He is an extremely experienced investor and one of the
smartest people I know.
