Go to the county clerk’s office and you can find the information. You can ask anyone there to help you and all the info you need will be on the warranty deed, even the lender’s name. Their address might not be there, but the company name will be. It’s a place to start.

I recently noticed a vacant house in my neighborhood and I wrote the owner on the tax record. About a week and a half later, she wrote me saying she had divorced and let the house “go back”. Is there a quicker, easier way than writing a letter to find out who the house “went back” to?

I hear this a lot from owners who think they lost the house. It’s very possible that she still owns it. You can confirm this down at your county recorder’s office. If she still owns it and finds out that it’s not to late for her to make a few dollars off it, she may have the incentive to sell.
