Trust Deed vs. Mtg States - Anybody have a list - Posted by Bill Gatten

Posted by Bill Gatten on December 04, 1998 at 21:11:40:

Does anyone happen to have a by-state listing of indicating which are Mortgage states such as California, and which are mortgage states (e.g., NY, NJ, etc.)?

Thanks

Bill

WA is not a mortgage state . . . - Posted by Joe Kaiser

. . . since 99% of loans here are secured by a deed of trust. Although a mortgage does show up every once in awhile.

No offense, but don’t rely on that list.

There are lists out there that seem to go from seminar to seminar. Where they originated, who knows, but they end up in every informercial promotor’s materials. Most stem from the same route source.

THEY ARE INACCURATE.

I can’t tell you every state, but several states are totally off base. Utah for example has been a trust deed state for over 30 years. I hope the lists aren’t that old.

Perhaps every one who notices an error on their state can chime in and we’ll actually have a current list.
