Back from the convention and my head is still spinning.
I was moved to tears by Terry’s telling of the story of the Blue Vase, and of this year’s recipient. I hope the full story will be placed permanantly on this webiste.
When I left my 13 year job at Sears, under unfavorable conditons, my co-workers held a little party. They’d taken up a collection, and the person in charge bought me a glass decanter. I gotta admit, I appreciated the thought, but as several of the shop guys mentioned to me in private, “what the H-- kind of gift is that for a guy?” I set it on a bookcase in the corner where its been gathering dust since the Regan administration and forgot about it.
Today when I got home from the convention, I took that bottle off the shelf, dusted it off, and put it on my desk where I’ll look at it every day.
