why don’t you check with your local Housing Authority section 8 dept. regarding this question. Or, better yet the HUD dept to see if they can answer your question in regards to this matter.

I own a 2 BR SFR that I’m renting for $1003 per month, the maximum amount allowed by Sec 8. The current tenants are consuming about $250-350 a month in electric and gas (my last tenants used about $130 a month), will HUD allow a rent increase to off set the unexpectedly high utilitiy bills before the first year is up… can I go back and change the lease so I’m not paying the utilities? (this is going to sound mean) but can I disconnect the central air? (more than once I’ve come by to collect the rent and found them cooling the whole neighborhood. :frowning:
