If you are starting a business check with your city/county for registering a ficticious name and to see if it is taken. Your state government would be who to check with for corporations under (I don’t know Pennsylvania) possibly Dept of State.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find out if a Ficticous name is in use. I would like to do this online of course. My state is PA.

in Pa. it is done at the state level. The Corporation
Bureau phone number is (717) 787-1057. I think that’s the right place. I have been there in person, downtown Harrisburg, and have called them on the phone.
they will do 3 checks at a time over the phone. The last time that I checked they didn’t have online capabilities.
