We’ll be looking for you. Make sure you have a die hard battery in that machine, it’s going to get a workout.

Hi Folks,
A last reminder to bring a pad, pencil and CALCULATOR to the workshop. If you don’t have a calculator, I strongly recommend you get one so you can learn to punch the buttons and work the examples we’ll be doing. Two that I recommend are the Texas Instrument BA, and HP 10B. Both will do everything you will need, and only cost about $30. But regardless what brand you get, be sure it’s a FINANCIAL calculator.
I’ve seen quite a number of posts from people who don’t understand how to work the calculator, figure yields, how to structure notes, how notes are bought & sold at discounts and etc. Well, if you don’t know now, you will after Thursday.
Looking forward to spending a great day with all of you.
All the best,
Lonnie

OK, Lonnie I’m ready. New calculator, old notebook, same old sponge brain. I soak up plenty, someone else just keeps wringing it out???
A couple of pre-class thoughts.
Your business has $33,180 in expenses this month. Your revenue was $39,218 What is the rate of return.
Markup vs. Margin? using the 10B
20.00 cost
30.00 price
Margin = 33%
20.00 cost
50% markup
Price = 30.00
end result is $30 but is it really 33% or 50%?
Almost looks like fuzzy retailer math.
See ya Thursday,
Glenn

Hi Lonnie,
I’m looking forward to it. I couldn’t get my flight changed so I’ll be getting there a little late. Got all my items, ESPECIALLY the calculator…still can’t figure that thing out.
See ya there,
Dee-Texas

Hi Glenn,
I won’t be at the class Thurs. So I’ll put my .02 in here.
Your business has $33,180 in expenses this month. Your revenue was $39,218 What is the rate of return.
This will vary depending on a number of factors. Did you pre-pay for inventory or use a credit line to stock it with?
If you used a credit line then your return would be infinite! You made a profit on borrowed money AFTER all costs were paid.
Markup vs. Margin? using the 10B
20.00 cost
30.00 price
Margin = 33%
20.00 cost
50% markup
Price = 30.00
end result is $30 but is it really 33% or 50%?
Your mark up is 50%…but your profit margin is 33% of GROSS SALES!
You can fill me in later at the convention.
