Does anyone know of a “how to” book on developing?

The ULI book is good, but is more aimed at medium to large developers, in my opinion. (although it is of some use for a smaller one, too)

But for someone starting out, and without a gazillion dollars, I like Stuart Leland Rider’s “From Dirt to Dollars: An Entrepreneur’s Guide to Commercial Real Estate Development”. It is available from his web site. I don’t remember the URL, but I’m sure you can find it using Google.

Another good book is ?Real Estate Development? Workbook and Manual by Howard A. Zuckerman

Which reminds me, I need to go back and re-read Zuckerman?s book?

The best source I know of for building and development is the National Assoc of Home Builders. Here is a link to their Builder Books website on development:,cat_id/tf=title
