I am in the same situation. Are the convention expenses Sched E deductions or Schedule A deductions.
If Schedule A, are they subject to the 2% rule?

OK, here’s one for you informed tax filer types. At this moment I’m a sole prop. (Bronchick’s course is in the mail).
Can I deduct the cost of the convention and the ton of books I bought there without using a schedule C? I usually just use sched E.
Thanx

Schedule C is for business deductions. Schedule E is for specific income producing assets like real estate. Check with your accountant to be sure. My bet is schedule C as the convention was not a specific expense related to any one property.
