the number you refer to is known as a F.I.C.O. score (a scoring system used to determine the quality of credit, among other things, using hundreds of vairyables) Developed by the Fair, Isaac Company a computer software designer. creditors and lenders use their own credit grades to the credit scores but here is the one i use.
720and up AA
700to719 A
680to699 A-/B+
660to679 B+/B
640to659 B
620to639 B-/C+/C
600to619 C/D
580to599 D/F
579and underF/F-

I frequently see credit info. in here that mentions #'s. For instance, over 700 is good. My husband and I just got a credit check and it was A+. I assume this might be the same as a 700+ score?
