They probably compare similarly with loans, but much lwoer fees for checking accounts, and other things that banks nick you too much for!!! If you have the opportunity to get an account at a credit union I definitely would do that. After that, shop you CU against a local bank for the loans you want. I don’t think, unless you have a real RELATIONSHIP (and that would include lots of money invested with them, I would imagine) with the bank you’ll get any better deal because you have an account there. Unless maybe it’s a small local bank. Ask the bank what difference it would make, if any.
