It rarely makes sense to make this sort of improvement in an effort to increase the value of a property. It is unlikely that you’ll see a 100% return, much less “extra resale value.”
That being said, sometimes you almost have to make improvements just to have a chance of selling. Not sure if a new garage falls into that catagory, but doubt it.
