Executed in Counterparts... - Posted by BR

Hi BR-

“This agreement may be executed in counterparts and by facsimile signatures.”

There is no need to pass-around a single original contract for all signatures and addendum notes. Copies of the contract are acceptable.

What does this mean in reference to a purchase contract?

More precisely said, the parties to the contract have not all signed the exact same page (whether in original or copy or fax). They should all have signed a copy that has the exact same language, but they haven’t all signed on the same page(s). Best to get everyone signed “on the same page(s)” as soon as possible, with originals being preferable of course.
