Mark,
There was a discussion about finders fees just this past week I believe. You can ck. the archives to see what comes up. As I see it it is ok to pay a “bird dog” fee to some one who finds a potential deal for you however they can’t enforce collection of it. There didn’t seem to be a clear consensus on this.
I will pay a referral fee.

Does anyone know the law as it applies to using “Finder’s fees” in California? Does anyone have a clue where I may locate such information?

Mark,

John is correct. What I got from the recent discussion is that it it OK to PAY finder’s fees; however, only licensed agents can actually win a judgment to COLLECT a finder’s fee.

I, too, will advertise for “bird dogs” and pay finder’s fees.
