Working on this short sale deal has taught me that my Title company cannot be trusted to get me a estimated HUD1 in any reasonable period of time.

Is it worth buying a HUD1 program so that I can take care of it myself?

If so, which program do you recommend?

I found a great piece of software free… - Posted by Downriver Brian

I actually found a great HUD1 program online. It’s free for the basic version, and $99 for a version with a billion extra forms and addons. I just need the basic version. It’s at http://www.puritas-springs.com/products/whud.htm

I like this better than the “fill in the blank” resources because it does all the calculations for me (even calculates the prorations so I don’t have to) and I can save the files. Sweet. I also didn’t have to enter any info to get the download.

Only problem is that my title company has a bunch of extra lines for fees. (doc prep, wire fee, overnigh fee, blah blah blah) so I need lines 1111 through 1118 but they arn’t there and if it’s customizeable, I don’t see how.
Oh well…I just need it to make estimated HUD1s for the short sale department anyway…and I doubt $60 difference for overnight fees is going to break the deal at the closing table.

NO. Fill one out by hand. the lender will accept it. Don’t spend the $300 or so. Waste of money. My opinion, worth what you just paid for it.
