My tenants are mostly on disability or working menial jobs, but
they still drive newer cars than me. It’s not just a matter of
priorities or status–I think there is a here & now attitude, one of
taking pleasures when there is opportunity instead of planning
beyond the next payment book. I only see evidence of short-term
hopes & planning. I’m not sure the big difference between such a
life & one of achievement isn’t just perspective.

I’ve got one L/O buyer who is different, & by golly I sure want that
darling girl to succeed–

I went to ride through a park today. I have a unit that I need to move, and the manager of this park that I called on the phone said that they have 3 spaces. It was a decent park, not “special” in terms of the amenities or landscaping. A mixture of units from the 60’s and 2005; mostly older, probably 10% newer than 10 years.

The thing that struck me is that nearly everyone had an RV! Boats, 5th Wheels, Travel Trailers, Campers, Motorhomes. It just struck me funny because in my neighborhood, which is a normal middle-class neighborhood, there are not nearly that many RVs.

Maybe I need to get a job where these people work…

Yeah, that’s interesting Kevin. The number of people that are living paycheck to paycheck that go and buy boats, RVs, etc. is amazing. It would be much cheaper for most people to just rent the ‘toy’ everytime they wanted to use it but I guess a certain status is obtained by parking something in the driveway.

…and I drive a 1997 minivan.
