I’m not sure how much carpet prices fluctuate regionally, so you might want to specify your location. Here in central Ohio 8.50-8.75 sq yd installed is competitive.

Is this a good price for installed carpet? - Posted by Frank Barnett

What’s a good price to pay for relatively low end but still “FHA grade” carpet? One investor told me they pay around $1.20 a square foot. Another investor said he has a source of carpet for $8 a square yard (both are installed prices with padding). If my math is correct, $8 a square yard is about 89 cents per square foot … is that a good price?

I think that’s a very good price. I pay over $9/sy. I know I can get a better price, though.

89 cents a foot installed, with padding, is a competitive price in my opinion.
