Yes, they share equally. The paying sibling can bring an action to compel the non-paying sibling to contribute to his portion. Did the paying sibling live in the home all these years? If yes, then that changes how much, if anything, he can recover.

Siblings buy a home together as joint owners. One sibling moves away soon after house bought, and other sibling continues to make all mortgage payments, homeowners insurance payments, home repairs, etc. for many years. The house is then sold. Are both siblings entitles to an equal share of the proceeds?
