www.hud.gov has a lender search function for the type of loan you are looking for(Title 1, 203K,etc.)

Hi. I have just been preapproved for a mortgage by Anvil mortgage. They said that once you have been approved you can begin looking for you house. Problem is, there are many brownstones where I live but they are in need of rehab. Anvil does not want to give the money to fix up property. I was told that I would need to either find a property that needs minimal fixup or try to apply for an equity loan.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Could you refer me to someone (who’s not a shark) that offers 203ks or equity loans?
