My current CPA is pretty good for basics. Now that we have grown to multiple corps / businessses, I think I need to step it up. There are some things she just can’t answer.

What are the top 10 things YOU might ask to help you find the best and most experienced CPA for this biz? Seems I can always think of questions, until I’m sitting in front of them. I’m compiling a list, and would love input from this group.

Thanks in advance

Hey Steph,

I was hoping a bunch of folks would post a response. We need to interview some CPAs and do an “upgrade” too.

I searched a few websites and found the following thoughts on the subject at richdad.com:

Things I would add to the list:

  • What percentage of your client base are real estate investors? “Dealers” vs. Landlords?
  • When was your last purchase and sale of real estate in your own portfolio?
  • What was the most complex tax filing you had to do for a real estate investor?
  • Familiarity with entity structuring for tax planning and asset planning purposes
  • How do you keep your clients current on the changes in the tax law that can impact their business?

Just my thoughts!

Monique
