I have info on both. I live in FL, I got my info on driver’s licenses from an article for notaries. It lists what the different numbers stand for. It also tells what to look for to show they are authentic. It includes pictures of the licenses as well. In FL the driver’s license numbers reflect part of your name, part of your birthday, and your gender.

This is a new one for me. A potential MH buyer put her application in at the park, and from where I stood, she looked like a good, solid, mature candidate. The park ran a credit check based on the SS# on her application, and sure enough, she was pretty clean. But someone in the office noticed a slight discrepancy between the SS# on her application and the one on her SS card, so they ran the other number too. By golly, she had a whole bunch of collection agencies after her! She had created a bogus financial profile using a slightly different, falsified SS# - and I’ve got to give her credit for her creativity. But not for the MH.

One of the things I require on my back ground checks is a copy of their SS card and their driver’s license. I have info from the library and the internet on how to tell if they are a fake (it is really easy). This scares off dishonest people.

I used to be a cop, and am now a P.I.
I do “background checks” all the time, and often have to scrutinize identification. The drivers liscense is the easiest thing in the world to get a “fake copy” of. In our state (IL.) you can goto the Secretary of States office (thats DMV most everywhere else in America) and tell them that you need a copy of the “drivers liscense verification book”. this book shows you a picture of every state in the US’s drivers liscenses. It also describes certain aspects of them for authentification. In Illinois, the birthdate is reflected in the Lisc. number,as well as a unique lamination job that is exclusive to the SEc. of State.
Also, many beer companies provide this type of information to there customers (Bars, Retaurants, and night clubs) to assist in the prevention of under age drinking.
I got my first copy from the Sec. of States office in IL. When they asked “why do you need this?” I said that I’d just started “bouncing” in a local bar, and needed it to stop kids from gaining entry. They handed it over with a smile.
My friend the Bar owner said he’d back me if they called to verify.
The next year, I got a copy from him, when “miller beer” brought them with his weekly delivery. Talk to a beverage ditributor in your area, they may give you a copy. They usually get hundreds from the Big Beer companies.
Hope this helps,
Jim

P.S. or make a xerox copy of it, and mail it to me with a check…I’ll verify it for you. LOL!

When you say “I have info from the library and the internet on how to tell if they are a fake” are you referring to fake SS#'s or fake Driver’s License’s? I am aware of procedures to identify fake SS#'s, but I thought that procedures to identify fake Driver’s Licenses were restriced to law enforcement agencies.

I saw a book a casino bit boss had on how to check drivers licenses to see if they are legit. This casino was in a vacation resort so you’re going to see licenses from many different states. This book covered them all and showed you how to spot the fake ones. This being said, I assume anyone can get a copy - but I don’t know where.
