I tried to write a response to your question under one of my earlier posts, BUT… For some weird reason, some one else’s post came up in stead of yours. So based on the E-mail, I will answer your question.

You asked: “Do those business accounts require your social security number to open? Or can they take an employer ID number?”

I called this morning to just to verify, and no they do not require that you give a personal SSN. EIN is fine. One person said you are not required to have a personal acct there, and another said you are. I will find out for sure on Monday, when I can go in person and speak to a dept. head if I need to. They will allow 4 business types. Sole Proprietor, Limited Partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps. And yes, you must be local.

Hope you find what you are looking for.
