If you have a tenant in a property you purchase who is paying under market prices (example: comp rents at $475 and tenant currently paying $385 per lease expiring April '99), are there any laws in Alabama limiting the amount you can raise rents when current lease runs out?

Contact your local housing department to find out if there are any laws to the contrary (rent control). More than likely not though. Usually these limitations are only in big cities like NY and LA.
