Sheriff's sales in IL - Posted by NewToIL

Dear Newto,
There is no “fee” to attend the auctions here in Illinois.
You may have to Sign in at some county auctions, but that is all.
You will need 10% the day of the auction and the remaining balance of the bid (assuming you won), within a certain time frame.
Usually 48 hours.
My advice would be to goto an auction and watch how it works.
Ask questions while there of the sheriff’s deputy in charge and other invetors.
You may find some buyers there for wholesale deals, or other great contacts.
Just make sure to get there early.
Here, the auctions are set to start at 8:30 am, and they DO!
If you show up just a few minutes late, you’ll miss the action.

Have fun,
Jim IL

Hello,

I recently moved to IL and I see the notices for the Sheriff’s auctions in the paper. Does anyone know what the requirements/minimum bids for these are? Can anyone just show up and lurk? I would love to observe/learn. Or, do you have to pay a lot of $$$$ just to get in the door?

I’d appreciate hearing anyone’s experience with these…
