The early termination of her lease might hurt her, but also might be done by agreement with the manager. I’d suggest she immediatly go and talk to the manager and tell mgr. her problems, that she simply cannot continue paying that rent & she’s doing the mgmt. a favor letting them know early so they can re-rent.

In some states mgmt must make genuine effor to re-rent asap. Don’t know current TX law on this.

I would advise her to give her notice in writing, and get receipt showing when they receive it, as in Cert. Mail with Receipt. An everyday USPS procedure and it’s simple to use. Any postal clerk can show her how.

Hi,

My mother lost her job and must move out of her apartment - she will move in with me (in another state). She has a lease (in TX) until Feb, 2004. She is moving out now and will be out by the end of the month.

What options do we have to work with the apartment owners? The lease is from the TX Apt Assoc.
