There are several definitions for “portfolio” but in the investing context the word means “all the securities held for investment”.
When broadly applied to real estate investing, “portfolio” refers to the aggregate of the real estate investments owned. These investments could be either property or paper, or a combination of both.
As you acquire investment real estate or mortgage notes, you are building your real estate “portfolio”.
