Solution #1:

  1. Provide proof of payment to the title company and get them to insure over it.

  2. Get a lost instrument bond, which will cost you a few hundred bucks.

#2 is generally what title companies require.

Is there anyway to get a mortgage removed from a property other than filing a satisfaction of mortgage? I recently paid off the second mortgage on my house and the mortgage holder who was the previous owner of the home never gave me a satisfaction of mortgage. I have no way of finding the guy either. He seems to up and disappeared. Pleas help as I need to get this removed so that I can get a HELOC and begin investing.
